Florida baseball bounced back from a weekend series-opening loss at home to the Auburn Tigers on Saturday with a 12-5 blowout win to return the favor from Friday. The pitching was not as sharp as the fanbase would prefer but the bats would not let up, answering each score for the visitors with their own plus more.
Jac Calianone hit his Division 1-leading 18th home run in the bottom of the first with Wyatt Langford on base to give Kevin O’Sullivan’s team its first lead of the three-game set — a lead that would not be relinquished for the remainder of the game. Hurston Waldrep was not perfect but he did still manage six innings of work allowing three earned runs on four hits and six walks while striking out 10.
While the bullpen has been a burden for the Orange and Blue this season, it held up admirably as the Tigers simply would not let up. [autotag]Brandon Neely[/autotag] closed the curtains with a two-plus-inning effort that saw two hits, one walk and three strikeouts to seal the deal and earn the save.
