The Buffs’ potential return to the Big 12 has many fans reminiscing about Colorado’s six-plus decades in its former conference.

During that period, the Buffs won five Big Eight championships and on Dec. 1, 2001, they won their lone Big 12 title with a 39-37 win over Texas. It’s also worth noting that in the game prior, Gary Barnett’s Buffs upset No. 2 Nebraska in Boulder, 62-36, to win the Big 12 North.

Colorado then met Texas one week later in enemy territory, nonetheless, at the Dallas Cowboys’ former home, Texas Stadium.

Chris Brown busted through the Longhorns’ defense for 182 yards on 33 carries, while Bobby Pesavento threw for 111 yards and led a fourth quarter drive that chewed enough time off the clock to disrupt a late Texas rally.
