That’s more like it! The Texas Longhorns jumped on the Florida Gators early in the first quarter and rolled up 35 points on five touchdowns in the first half. Meanwhile, UF couldn’t do anything consistently on offense.
The Longhorns then intercepted QB Aidan Warner on the first play of the second half to extend the lead to 42-0. That was it for Quinn Ewers. The Junior from Southlake exited the game after going 19 of 27 for 333 yards, 5 TDs and 0 interceptions.
Up 42-0, the UT defense took the foot off the gas a bit. Florida scored 10 points before Arch Manning led another Texas touchdown drive, capped by a run from Jerrick Gibson. The Gators added another garbage time TD, leading to a 49-17 final.
While it’s easy to get carried away with the win, Florida is a program in crisis. 4-4 on the year, the Gators are down to their third-string QB and their secondary has been decimated by injuries.
But Longhorns fans can enjoy another Texas blowout. The schedule gets tougher from here.
