Well, that was interesting. The Texas Longhorns jumped out to a big lead against Vanderbilt in the first half and held on for a 27-24 win in Nashville. UT’s first SEC road game wasn’t easy.

Texas did a lot of good things. The Horns had almost 400 yards of offense and nabbed three turnovers on defense. Ewers was 27 of 37 for 288 yards, 3 TDs and 2 INTs.

The interceptions were a problem. Both came on a tipped ball at the line of scrimmage. Vandy converted both picks into touchdowns. One early in the first quarter for the first score of the game and one in the third quarter that prevented UT from putting the game away.

Texas had an astounding 10 penalties for 108 yards. Every one seemed to be a momentum buster.

DeAndre Moore Jr. had a big day at wide receiver. He was targeted more with starter Isaiah Bond out of the game due to injury.
