Philly’s Joel Embiid remains doubtful for Game 1 of the 76ers vs. Boston Celtics series

The Cameroonian center will try to nurse a sprained LCL ligament in his knee back to a state in which he can play.

The biggest question in the NBA’s 2023 Eastern Conference Semifinals series between the Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers set to kick off on Monday night that will not be settled on the court is whether or not star Sixers big man Joel Embiid will be getting on the court for Game 1 od the series and beyond.

The Cameroonian center will try to nurse a sprained LCL ligament in his knee back to a state in which he can play well enough to at least not hurt his ball club and hopefully, to play at the level that earned him frontrunner status for the 2023 Most Valuable Player award. But, early word is that a Game 1 return may not be in the cards.

ESPN’s Tim Bontemps recently broke down why that is, as well as other aspects of the second-round matchup for a recent segment on ESPN’s “Sports Center” show.
