The Philadelphia Phillies (43-44) and Boston Red Sox (55-35) close out MLB’s lone interleague series this weekend with a 1:10 p.m. ET first pitch at Fenway Park Sunday. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Phillies vs. Red Sox odds with MLB picks and predictions.
RHP Aaron Nola is the projected starting pitcher for the Phillies. He is 6-5 with a 4.53 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 11.2 K/9 and 2.0 BB/9 through 101 1/3 IP spanning 18 starts.
Nola has scuffled of late and owns a 6.10 ERA over his last 31 IP. Current Boston batters own an aggregate .771 OPS against the veteran right-hander.
RHP Nick Pivetta is the projected starting pitcher for the Red Sox. Pivetta is 7-3 with a 4.09 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 10.6 K/9 and 4.1 BB/9 over 92 1/3 IP across 17 starts.
Pivetta has a string of feast-or-famine starts heading into Sunday’s home turn. A couple of recent clunkers have come at Fenway Park, where he has notched a 5.32 ERA this season.

Money line (ML)
Philadelphia clocked an 11-2 win Saturday.
Looking at run differential and some underlying indicators, peg Boston’s winning percentage as being somewhat lofty with a 17-9 record in 1-run games being a big boon for the Red Sox.
With a batter’s breeze in the forecast for Sunday’s game, beware the prospects of Pivetta, who yields more fly balls than Nola and who has been barreled up more frequently of late.
Nola has pitched around a .331 batting average on balls in play and figures to be a decent play in upcoming weeks. Behind him and some indicators of better days ahead for a Phillies relief unit bedeviled by some bad luck around the margins, BACK THE PHILLIES (+100).

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)
AVOID the extra juice in this run line equation.
Over/Under (O/U)
The total is a respectable one. It’s perhaps worth shading just a tad on the OVER 9.5 (-110).
