This weekend, Michael Carroll was offered by Texas A&M, marking what is now the second Power Five offer for the offensive lineman from Pennsylvania. Carroll was offered by Rutgers football in late May.
Carroll, a 6-foot-5 guard for La Salle College (Philadelphia, PA), now counts offers from Rutgers, Temple and Texas A&M. But other schools are beginning to get involved in his recruitment.
Things are going well for Carroll with Rutgers as he continues to build a relationship with the Big Ten program. They are his closest Power Five offer to date.
Following his offer this weekend, Rutgers Wire caught up with Carroll and asked him how things are going in his recruitment, specifically Rutgers.
“They’re great! Coach Pat Flats (offensive line coach Pat Flaherty) and coach Matt Walp (director of player engagement) have been doing a great job staying in contact with me and making me feel like a priority. They are going to be coming to one of my games this year,” Carroll told Rutgers Wire.
Flaherty joined the Rutgers staff this offseason, having spent the previous two decades in the NFL. He won two Super Bowls with the New York Giants as their offensive line coach.
Carroll said that in terms of his his interest, “Obviously (Rutgers) is still extremely high on my list!”
“Rutgers is such a good program and has such great coaches,” Carroll said. “Greg Schiano and Coach Flats have a whole lot of experience with the NFL as well.”
This weekend’s offer from South Carolina is a big deal for Carroll’s recruitment. It came after he performed well during a lineman camp.
He was taken to a practice building where he met with offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley and head coach Shane Beamer

This was when coach Teasley and head coach Shane Beamer and Pete Lembo (associate head coach) told me I really impressed them with how light I was on my feet, how athletic I am, and the power that I have,” Carroll said.
“They said I have everything they are looking for and more. Then I was offered and we took a picture outside of the building with the stadium in the background.”
Carroll plans to visit Michigan State on June 21.
