For the final time during the 2020 NFL season, the Eagles have protected four practice squad players in advance of Sunday’s matchup against Washington.
Butler was waived and re-signed to the practice squad back in November. The former wide receiver originally agreed to sign with the Eagles off of Carolina’s practice squad on September 29, playing in two games, primarily on special teams.
Smith originally signed with the Bears following the 2020 NFL Draft and was cut at the end of Training Camp. Smith was eventually signed to the Cowboys’ active roster. He did not appear in a game before he was waived on October 26 and signed to the Eagles practice squad shortly after.
