Philadelphia 76ers 2020-21 season in review: Rayjon Tucker

We now review the season had by Philadelphia 76ers guard Rayjon Tucker in the 2020-21 season.

We continue our look at the 2020-21 season for the Philadelphia 76ers by looking at each player’s season. Having worked through the starting lineup, we turn our attention to the bench unit as we take a look at one of the younger players who provided some athletic plays off the bench.

The Sixers signed Rayjon Tucker to a two-way contract in January, and he only played in 14 games. He made most of his impact in the G League bubble in Orlando. When he did get some time with the Sixers, he threw down dunks to hype the crowd a bit, and he showed off some elite athleticism.

2020-21 season averages:

2.4 points

0.8 rebounds

0.4 assists

50% overall percentage

28.6% from deep

Tucker averaged 4.9 minutes in those 14 games for Philadelphia; most of it came in garbage time. While he is a very athletic player, he is still very raw, and he still has a lot of development to do as a player. In the G League, he averaged 19.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists with the Delaware Blue Coats.

Tucker’s best game with the Sixers came in the season finale when he scored 10 points on 4-for-5 shooting in a win over the Orlando Magic. That was a solid game for him to get some more time and get some live action.

Tucker played in one game in the playoffs, Game 5 against the Washington Wizards. He scored one point in 1:40 of action. He did not see the floor against the Atlanta Hawks.

For the offseason, Tucker has to continue to develop and round out the edges of his game. He has the potential to be a rotational player in the league, but he has to add to his game and he will have to work much more.
