Phil Mickelson through the years: A look back at his career

See Phil Mickelson through the years, from his first major appearances in 1991 to 2023.

Phil Mickelson made his first appearance at a major championship in 1990 at the U.S. Open, and 33 years later he’s still in the field.

Mickelson will turn 53 on Friday, June 16, as he plays in the second round of the 2023 U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club.

Over the course of an incredible career, Mickelson has won 45 PGA Tour titles, six major championships and $96 million in career PGA Tour earnings, second only behind Tiger Woods.

Mickelson evolved from the best to never win a major, to the people’s champion, to one of the sport’s most controversial figures with his defection to LIV Golf in 2022.

Here’s a look back at Mickelson’s career in photos, year by year.
