The Buffalo Bills signed All-Pro pass rusher Von Miller to a six-year deal. That sounds like a great idea… a few years back.
The optics of the contract itself might change the length a bit, however, that’s still a long, large contract for a 33-year-old, right?
Perhaps not.
Pro Football Focus provided some important context on Miller’s game from just last season. In doing so, it revealed that Miller still very much excels in what he does.
Of all the players that forced quarterback hurries in 2021, Miller had the third-most in the entire NFL:

Miller’s numbers with the Bills might dip. But there’s reason to believe he can still be effective and for the long term. The reason for that is the same reason why his Buffalo production might drop.
In Sean McDermott’s defense, the Bills run a rotation along the defensive front. Miller will still likely see more snaps than others, but he might not see the 79 percent of snaps he played with the Los Angeles Rams last year.
That will naturally keep his numbers down a tad.
However, Miller will be out there in crunch time and that’s where he’s going to make his biggest difference for the Bills. If things go according to plan, he’ll be the closer for Buffalo.
