With the way things currently stand, the Buffalo Bills could let wide receiver Gabriel Davis get his first-career dose of starting snaps, uncontested, in 2022.

Emmanuel Sanders is likely to retire, leaving Davis as the current starting wide receiver across from Stefon Diggs. At least he will be pre-2022 NFL draft.

Davis proved last year that he could handle such duties. Not only with huge postseason, but with his efforts throughout the year as well. Pro Football Focus‘ man coverage statistic shows why.

According to the football analytics outlet, Davis was the second best, second year receiver against man coverage in 2022. The only one better than him was Minnesota Vikings star Justin Jefferson:

At the upcoming draft, the Bills could potentially address the wide receiver spot. The name of Alabama wide receiver Jameson Williams has been connected to the Bills.

But Buffalo should not feel obligated to select a wideout. Competition might be good, but Davis has proved he can be relied, and in big moments.

His playoff effort against the Kansas City Chiefs, a record four touchdown catches, proved that–PFF’s statistic only further solidifies it.
