Penn State women’s basketball matchup set for ACC/Big Ten Challenge

Penn State women’s basketball has its matchup for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge confirmed.

The pieces are starting to come together for the Penn State women’s basketball schedule for the upcoming season. On Monday, the Big Ten revealed the pairings for this year’s ACC/Big Ten Women’s Basketball Challenge. Penn State will play host to Virginia in this year’s women’s basketball challenge.

Penn State will host Virginia on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at the Bryce Jordan Center. An exact tip time will be confirmed later but the game will air on either the Big Ten Network, B1G+, or one of ESPN’s networks.

This will mark the first meeting between the two schools in women’s basketball since March 12, 1996, a first-round NCAA tournament victory by the No. 8 seed Lady Lions in Louisiana. This year’s matchup in the ACC/Big Ten Women’s Basketball Challenge will be the eighth all-time meeting between Penn State and Virginia in women’s basketball.

This is the first non-conference game confirmed for the Lady Lions. Penn State will host Indiana, Northwestern, Ohio State, and Wisconsin in Big Ten play this season and they will visit Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, and Nebraska. Penn State will play home-and-home series with Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, Purdue, and Rutgers. The Big Ten schedule will be announced at a later time.

The Lady Lions are coming off an 11-18 season under head coach Carolyn Kieger. Kieger is entering her fourth season at the helm of the program for the 2022-23 season.
