After a week away from the basketball court to focus on final exams on campus, Penn State’s men’s basketball team is back in action this weekend. They’ll be heading to the Big Apple to resume non-conference play on Saturday afternoon with a matchup with Georgia Tech in Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Although Penn State is not traveling too far for this weekend’s matchup with their ACC opponent, the Nittany Lions are still searching for their first win away from home in the Bryce Jordan Center this season. Penn State dropped all three of its games in a Thanksgiving weekend tournament and its Big Ten opener at Maryland last week.
History appears to be on Penn State’s side in this one. The Nittany Lions are 3-1 all-time against Georgia Tech, including two wins in the last couple of meetings in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge in 2008 and 2016. Penn State is also 15-7 all-time in Madison Square Garden. The highlights of Penn State’s history in the world’s most famous arena are a couple of NIT championships in 2009 and 2018.
