Penn State to face Wisconsin in first Big Noon Kickoff on FOX in 2021

Penn State will take on the national spotlight in their season opener as part of FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff.

The start of the 2021 college football season is rapidly approaching, and more information about Penn State’s schedule has now been confirmed.

The season opener at Wisconsin on September 4 is getting the big spotlight treatment from FOX. FOX announced the Penn State-Wisconsin game will be featured as the first Big Noon Kickoff of the season, with the pregame show expected to be on the scene in Madison.

In addition, Penn State’s home opener on September 11 against Ball State will be at 3:30 p.m. on FS1. It will be the first home game in over a year since fans were last allowed inside Beaver Stadium, and head coach James Franklin hopes it is one of the biggest family reunions possible.

Penn State’s challenging road contest at Iowa on October 9 will be on FOX or FS1, but a kickoff time will be announced at a later time. Penn State’s homecoming game against Illinois on October 23 will be at noon, but TV information will be confirmed at a later date.

Here is an interesting, if not worrisome stat. When Fox Sports obtained rights to carry Big Ten games in 2017, their pregame show has been in attendance for two Penn State games. Unfortunately, the Nittany Lions are 0-2 in those performances with losses to Ohio State in 2018 and 2019. FOX’s pregame show, which has traditionally been conducted in a studio, has yet to travel to Happy Valley.

Penn State’s Week 3 contest against Auburn was previously announced for a primetime showdown on ABC.

More kickoff times will be announced as we get closer to the start of the season.
