Penn State stays put in US LBM Coaches Poll for Week 2

The US LBM Coaches Poll for Week 2 is out. Here is where Penn State ranks this week.

For the second striaght week, Penn State remained in its preseason position in the US LBM Coaches Poll following another weekend of college football. While staying in the same spot in the updated coaches poll, the Nittany Lions were passed by one team coming off a major win over an SEC team.

Penn State remains no. 7 in the updated US LBM Coaches Poll, which was released on Sunday afternoon. Penn State stood firm with its ranking coming off a 63-7 victory over Delaware, an FCS program. While Penn State stood firm this week, there was some movement within the top 10 for a second week in a row all around the Nittany Lions.

Georgia remains on top of the coaches poll with 64 first-place votes, and the defending national champions are followed once again by defending Big Ten champion Michigan at no. 2. The Wolverines received 1 first-place vote in the new coaches poll, the only one not going to the Bulldogs this week.

Texas is the big mover this week. The Longhorns moved up four spots from no. 10 to no. 6, one spot ahead of Penn State. Texas moved up following a statement victory at Alabama on Saturday night. The Crimson Tide fell seven spots from no. 3 down to no. 10.

Florida State, a week after making the big move up with a win over LSU, benefitted from the loss by Alabama. Florida State actually moved up two spots this week up to no. 3, replacing the Crimson Tide in that ranking. Florida State also jumped ahead of Ohio State, who remained no. 4 in the new poll. USC moved up to no. 5 as Alabama tumbled.

Washington and Tennessee fill the gaps in the top 10 between Penn State and Alabama in the Week 2 coaches poll.

The Big Ten still has four teams in this week’s US LBM Coaches Poll despite Wisconsin falling out with a road loss at Washington State. Iowa moved into the top 25 at no. 24 with a 2-0 start following its win at Iowa State in Week 2. Other teams falling out of the top 25 along with Wisconsin included Tulane and Texas A&M. Miami (no. 23) and UCLA (no. 25) each moved into the top 25.
