Penn State loses transfer commitment to West Virginia

Penn State loses transfer commitment to 2023 opponent

After seemingly having a veteran with plenty of experience locked in through the transfer portal, Penn State is back on the prowl looking for some depth at wide receiver. [autotag]Devin Carter[/autotag], who had committed to Penn State out of the transfer portal, has flipped his commitment to West Virginia.

This did seemingly happen pretty quickly as Carter announced his commitment to Penn State within hours of watching the Nittany Lions win the Rose Bowl. But perhaps there was some writing on the wall as he was not formally introduced by Penn State as the new semester began this week.

The loss of Carter from the transfer portal stings, but Penn State was still being active in recruiting a receiver out of the portal and should be able to find someone to add to the program to help pad the depth after losing [autotag]Parker Washington[/autotag] and [autotag]Mitchell Tinsley[/autotag].

Carter will actually be scheduled to make his West Virginia debut in Beaver Stadium. He’ll be joined by former Penn State defensive lineman Fatmora Mulbah, who transferred from Penn State to West Virginia this week. Penn State opens the 2023 season on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at home against West Virginia in a revival of the old regional rivalry with the Mountaineers for the first time since before Penn State joined the Big Ten.
