Penn State commit Ethan Grunkemeyer shines on Day 1 of Elite 11 Finals

Penn State QB commit Ethan Grunkemeyer stole the show on Day 1 of the Elite 11 Finals.

The nation’s top quarterback recruits gathered in California this week for the start of the Elite 11 Finals, and one of the brightest stars on the first day of the camp was Penn State commit [autotag]Ethan Grunkemeyer[/autotag]. Grunkemeyer was one of the big winners in every aspect of the first day of the Elite 11 Finals with solid performances in each of the drills the quarterbacks went through.

On3 went so far as to name Grunkemeyer its Day 1 MVP.

“His arm jumped out from the first drill,” said On3’s Charles Power in his Day 1 recap from the Elite 11 Finals. “The football came out of his hand with noticeable velocity. We thought he consistently had the most juice on his throws of any Elite 11 Finalist on Wednesday evening.”

While Grunkemeyer impressed with his arm strength, he capped the day by finishing second in the event’s rail shot competition with a shot down the sideline to a streaking wide receiver. Not a bad way to get the event started for one of Penn State’s future quarterbacks.

Grunkemeyer is a three-star recruit in the Class of 2024 who recently committed to Penn State. But if he continues this kind of performance at the Elite 11 Finals in the next two days, it may not be long before his recruiting ranking is revised with a fourth star, the way things are sounding out of California.
