Over the course of the preseason, will are profiling each player on the roster to help fans get acquainted with this year’s roster of Nittany Lions men’s basketball players and what kind of role each player will be taking on for Shrewsberry.

Preseason Profile: Kanye Clary

Year Freshman
Hometown (High School) Virginia Beach, VA
(Massanutten Military Academy)
Height 5-11
Weight 192

Kanye Clary was one of the key new additions to the program in Shrewsberry’s first full recruiting cycle. While most of the recruiting services rated him a three-star recruit, ESPN gave him a fourth star in their recruiting rankings. Clary scored 2,000 point sin high school between two schools, Princess Ann High School and Massanutten Military Academy.

Clary was one of the top players out of Virginia. He was also named first-team All-Tournament at the National Prep Championship in March.

Role in 2022-23

Clary won’t be a leading role player for the Nittany Lions but he should be expected to contribute. Penn State is working on getting a few newcomers ready to come off the bench and contribute to the team this season, and Clary will certainly be among the young players to keep a close eye on this season.

Expect the early part of the season to be a good opportunity to get Clary involved in the rotation, and don’t be surprised if his role increases as the year progresses.
