While Penn State may be stuck in a bit of a holding pattern waiting for a final decision from head coach [autotag]Micah Shrewsberry[/autotag] about where he will coach next season, that hasn’t stopped Shrewsberry and the Nittany Lions from moving forward with hopes of building a roster through the transfer portal. After putting together a roster fueled by key transfer additions, Penn State could be looking to add a key transfer from Temple.
Damian Dunn entered the transfer portal this week and has been flooded with calls from programs looking to add him to the roster. Among those reported to have interest was Penn State, according to Jeff VBorzello of ESPN, via Twitter.
Dunn was a two-time all-AAC player guard for Temple, a program fresh into a coaching change after moving on from head coach and former Owls player Aaron McKie. The 6′-5″ guard was a three-star recruit in Temple’s Class of 2019. Dunn averaged 15.3 points per game this season.
Temple transfer Damian Dunn tells ESPN he’s heard from the following schools since hitting the portal:
UConn
Gonzaga
Miami
Tennessee
Villanova
Auburn
Iowa State
NC State
Missouri
Penn State
Georgia
Mississippi St.
Clemson
Nebraska
East Carolina
Coastal Carolina— Jeff Borzello (@jeffborzello) March 21, 2023
Penn State’s roster will have some big shoes to fill after this season, regardless of who the head coach is. Jalen Pickett moves on after an All-American season, and veterans like Seth Lundy and Myles Dread are moving on as well. Picking up a player that thrived for an underachieving program like Dunn would be a nice addition to the roster moving into next season. But as the list of interested schools reported suggests, Penn State has a lot of competition for this particular transfer option.
