Pelicans vs. Kings Preview: An impactful road trip continues

The New Orleans Pelicans continue their road trip on Wednesday by traveling to Sacramento for a match-up with a fellow playoff contender.

Who: New Orleans Pelicans at Sacramento Kings

When: Wednesday, March 11, 10:30 p.m ET

Where: Golden 1 Center

How to watch: ESPN

After starting the road trip with a win over a non-playoff team on Sunday, the Pelicans will play the Kings, Jazz and Clippers in successive games while still battling for the playoffs.

Wednesday’s game provides the chance for a rematch against a Sacramento team that the Pelicans beat in dramatic fashion in the last outing. JJ Redick’s layup just ahead of the buzzer proved to be the game-winner for New Orleans.

Since that win, New Orleans has continued its revival while Sacramento has similarly flourished in recent weeks. Since Feb. 20, the Kings are 7-3 and have quickly eaten up the ground between themselves and the eighth seed to force their way into the playoff picture.

The Kings rank below average in terms of offensive rating, defensive rating and net rating. While they rank 13th in offensive effective field goal percentage, they also rank 19th in defensive effective field goal percentage.
