Pelicans swallow up big Celtics lead, win 120 – 115 in overtime

Boston let New Orleans come back from down 24 points — a franchise record for the Pels.

The Boston Celtics continued in their hot and cold pattern of dropping a game after a win with their biggest collapse of the season against the New Orleans Pelicans. The Celtics lost a 24-point lead in the third quarter as New Orleans surged late to send the game to overtime, winning in the extra period.

Midway through the third quarter, the Pelicans went on the attack, and kept their energy up through the end while Boston simply did not — or perhaps could not — respond. It would net them their biggest comeback in franchise history and a 120 – 115 win.

Big men Daniel Theis and Tristan Thompson eached chipped in 14 points, and reserve center Robert Williams III contributed 8 points, 13 boards and 4 rebounds off the bench.
