One of the only bright spots from last weekend’s series loss to Auburn was [autotag]Paul Skenes[/autotag]’ performance in game one.
Skenes put together his magnum opus as he tallied the most strikeouts in one game this season. In 7.1 innings of work, Skenes sent 15 Auburn Tigers back to the dugout with their tail tucked between their legs.
He only gave up six hits and one walk as well. He was pitching with confidence and it seemed as though every pitch he threw would go wherever he wanted it to.
This is the sixth time this season that Skenes has been named the Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week and the third time he has been named SEC Pitcher of the Week.
His next start will be on Friday night against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. The first pitch for Game 1 of that series is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT.
