The Boston Celtics were expected to take their time finding their footing after internal scandal and injuries threatened to derail their 2022-23 campaign before it had even begun, but the team roared into action under then-interim head coach Joe Mazzulla, putting a historic offense on the parquet early in the season.
But then the ball club’s level of play dropped and teams that were clearly the worse of the two in terms of talent on paper kept beating Boston — especially when the opponent was a younger, athletic squad with length. What happened? Did the Boston Celtics peak too early?
