Australian native and proud bronze-medalist Patty Mills is already making his presence felt in not only Brooklyn, but with the team. His experience and brilliance on and off the court is already rubbing off on his teammates after being admitted to the Brooklyn Collar Boys Club (BCB).

In order to get into the exclusive club, you have to be willing to put your body on the line, be scrappy on the court and of course win the approval of Blake Griffin and Joe Harris, so it’s not going to be easy getting in.

BCB is a representation of all the hard workers in the borough of Brooklyn. In the community, hard workers in hospitals, schools and Barclays Center, just to name a few, give their all to make a living in the city. To watch a team that represents that same type of work ethic means everything for Nets fans and the community and that is something that the team is building their identity on day by day.

On the Brooklyn Nets’ series, “The Bridge Episode 2,” Mills reflects on the early challenges of putting this identity of the team together while also stressing his personal belief of unity connecting all people no matter who you are and where you are.

“Nothing will be handed to us on a silver platter. We got pieces to the puzzle at the end of the day. We got to piece the puzzle together and make sure we make ways to make it work. For me to make an impact not only in the locker room, but on the floor in a positive way and continue the positive reinforcements. The good vibes I like to call it. I always believe whether it’s with basketball or off the court that unity is a very strong thing that can bring a lot of people together to achieve something greater than ourselves. At the end of the day, we’re a part of something bigger. We’re a part of the Nets organization. We’re a part of this great sport in basketball and being able to bring people together I think all plays into this part of positivity and good energy when it comes to winning a championship.”
