Patty Mills was absolutely on one on Sunday against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Australian native logged 31 minutes to drop 29 points, but what made things more special was how he got to his 29 points. Mills managed to casually drill nine threes on 12 attempts, breaking the Nets franchise record for the most threes made off the bench.
The veteran continues to impress on the Nets, but he made sure to put fans on notice in his debut when he tied the NBA record for the most threes made in a debut as well. After the game, the Aussie shrugged it off as he knew he was going to reach such feats upon his arrival in Brooklyn.
“On the offensive end, we’re starting to get a feel as games go on,” said Mills. “And we get more game reps, you know, what everyone’s like, we keep talking about this is a new team and everyone finding their spots. Just being able to ping it around and shoot open shots is the ideal way — Whenever you get the chance to shoot open shots, it’s always better.”
Patty Mills recalls a friend's advice after his historic night:
