Patriots rule three out for Sunday’s return to Gillette Stadium vs Colts

The Patriots offense will be short-handed on Sunday.

The New England Patriots will be missing at least three key offensive playmakers in Sunday’s clash with the visiting Indianapolis Colts.

On Friday, the team ruled out right tackle Marcus Cannon, wideout DeVante Parker and center David Andrews. The absence of Cannon and Andrews is especially concerning considering the team’s shaky offensive line situation.

Injuries and just downright underwhelming on-field performances have been the lingering issue for the unit. It’s even scarier with the Patriots slated to face a tough Colts pass rush a week after the offensive line allowed quarterback Mac Jones to be pancaked six times by the New York Jets.

Parker being gone could be a problem as well, especially with him serving as the team’s primary deep threat receiver. We’ll see if rookie Tyquan Thornton can step up and make plays or if the team can get tight ends Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith more involved against a Colts team that has struggled to defend those particular skilled players.

It’s important to note that both defensive tackle Christian Barmore and safety Kyle Dugger were still on the injury report, but they are listed as questionable to return to the lineup on Sunday. Running back Damien Harris is also questionable with an illness.

Even against a struggling Colts team, the Patriots will need all of the help they can get to pull out a win in this matchup.
