The Patriots finally addressed their biggest need. They went through all of free agency without signing a tight end, but they found one in the third round of the draft. Bill Belichick traded No. 100, No. 139, and No. 172 to the Las Vegas Raiders for No. 91 and No. 159. With that 91st pick, the Patriots selected UCLA tight end Devin Asiasi.

The tight end spent one year at Michigan before transferring to UCLA and totaled 52 receptions, for 749 yards and six touchdowns. As was expected, football fans took to Twitter and appeared intrigued at the decision to bring the tight end into New England.

Here’s what the world was saying about the newest Patriot.

While it remains to be seen exactly what role Asiasi will play in the Patriots’ offense in his rookie season, he’s expected to make an impact. There isn’t much lower for the Patriots to go in terms of production from the tight end position, so this move can only be a positive.
