Though he is not expected to start in the first two games, New England Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye has impressed in his first preseason and is likely to be the starter after the coming season begins.
There is a lot of pressure on Maye to excel in a rebuilt Patriots lineup, the outgoing dynasty left a lot for the refreshed team to live up to. Maye is vying for the QB1 spot, competing with Jacoby Brissett who is expected to start in the 2024 kickoff.
The official NFL Twitter account posted this highlight from the exhibition versus Washington where Maye lost a shoe in the middle of the action and still made a completion for a first down.

Whether Maye starts week 1 is likely as dependent on Brissett’s status after sustaining a seemingly minor injury tonight as it is the feelings of head coach Jerod Mayo on who is best suited to face the Bengals on September 8.
