The New England Patriots reloaded the tight end position Friday, starting with UCL’s Devin Asiasi at 91st overall and continuing with Virginia Tech’s Dalton Keene at 101st overall.
Keene caught 21 passes for 240 yards and five touchdowns last season for Virginia Tech. In three seasons in Blacksburg, he tallied 59 receptions for 740 yards and eight touchdowns. He helps fill a need for New England at the position as they try to retool their offense. He should provide versatility at the position for the organization.
In what was a busy night for the organization as a whole, fans weighed in on Twitter throughout the course of the evening.
It’s a simplistic take, but I think the Patriots are going to use Dalton Keene in the Aaron Hernandez role.

Dalton Keene & Devin Asiasa 💪🏼
Gonna be a good duo of TE— Cristian Rivas (@rivas2013) April 25, 2020
(I liked that Dalton Keene pick for the Patriots quite a bit)

Dalton Keene getting picked by New England is a massive compliment to his productivity. Belichick is essentially saying that the void Gronk left was too big to not take a stud TE, and Keene is the potential replacement. Huge congrats @DaltonKeene18

Keene will undoubtedly be a part of the Patriots trying to get more production out of the position. He certainly has the skill set and talent to be a productive player.
