New England Patriots coach Jerod Mayo isn’t ruling out hiring a new offensive coordinator for the team in 2024, when appearing before the media at a press conference on Wednesday.
The Patriots elected to have Bill O’Brien serve as offensive coordinator in 2023. The offense struggled, ranking 30th in the league in yards per game with 276.2 total yards on average. Now, the Patriots will have decisions to make at multiple positions in the offense, most notably at quarterback.
It appears as though Mayo is going to take a very open approach to not only the offensive coordinator position, but also the rest of his coaching staff.
“Everything is under consideration,” Mayo responded, when asked if he’d open a search for an offensive coordinator.
The style and direction of Mayo’s coaching staff is going to be something worth monitoring. It might tip a cap to the plan for further personnel moves down the road.
