Patrick Beverley hilariously explains the difference between preparing for Chris Paul vs. Steph Curry

Patrick Beverley didn’t hold back when hilariously explaining the difference between preparing to play against Chris Paul vs. Steph Curry.

In the second round of the playoffs, the top-seeded Phoenix Suns fell to the Dallas Mavericks in blowout fashion in Game 7 on Sunday. Following their disappointing loss to end their season, veteran point guard Chris Paul came under fire for his performance in Game 7.

Following the blowout in Game 7, Patrick Beverley didn’t hold back in a fiery appearance on ESPN’s Get Up on Monday morning. While discussing Paul’s performance, Beverley explained the difference when having to prepare for a game against Chris Paul, versus his preparation for having to guard Steph Curry.

CP3, is he going to be a Hall of Famer? No question about it. Do guys in the NBA go to sleep early the night before playing the Phoenix Suns? Hell no. No. I’m going to Steak 44 over there in Phoenix; I’m going to have me a nice little wine, probably sweat it out in the pregame shootaround and get ready for Chris Paul. Steph Curry? I’m going to bed at 8 o’clock. Mom, don’t call me. My girl, don’t call me. I’m locked in right now. It’s two different monsters.

The 12-time All-Star guard tallied 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the floor with four assists and a rebound in 31 minutes against the Mavs. While Paul was quiet, Dallas guard Luka Donic went off for a game-high 35 points on 12-of-19 shooting from the floor with six triples from beyond the arc, 10 boards and four assists on the way to leading his team to a Western Conference Finals birth.

Along with his underwhelming performance in Game 7, Paul sputtered in Game 6 against the Mavericks with 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the floor with four assists, two rebounds and five turnovers in 36 minutes.

Despite his numbers in the playoffs, Paul averaged 14.7 points on 49.3% shooting from the floor with 10.8 assists and 4.4 rebounds on his way to helping lead the Suns to the best record in the NBA.

However, the future Hall of Famer will be watching the Western Conference Finals from home in 2022.

Game 1 between the Warriors and Mavericks will open at 6 p.m. PT on Wednesday at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
