Paris Johnson draws comparison to Jets great D’Brickashaw Ferguson

Wouldn’t it be something if the Jets get the next D’Brickashaw Ferguson?

Comparisons to current NFL players are always an interesting part of the draft process to help fans get an understanding of who a prospect is and what he can be. And one prospect constantly linked to the Jets in mock drafts is getting compared to one of the greatest players in Jets’ history.

Our buddy Doug Farrar of Touchdown Wire recently made NFL comparisons for each of his top 50 prospects in the 2023 draft and Jets fans will love his connection for Ohio State offensive tackle Paris Johnson. That would be none other than Jets’ great and member of their Ring of Honor D’Brickashaw Ferguson.

“Selected fourth overall by the Jets in the 2006 draft out of Virginia, Ferguson combined athletic ability with developed power to make three Pro Bowls in his 10-year career. Ferguson occasionally dealt with bouts of iffy protection, but overall, he availed himself well in the run and pass games. Johnson could rise to that level over time.”

Pretty safe to say that if Johnson’s career has that kind of trajectory and he lands with the Jets, the left side of the line will be in good hands for a long time.
