Frank Reich is bringing another familiar face over to Charlotte.
As announced by his agent Brett Tessler on Thursday, defensive tackle Taylor Stallworth has agreed to a one-year deal with the Panthers. Stallworth previously played a pair of seasons under Reich with the Indianapolis Colts, from 2020 to 2021.
The Mobile, Ala. native attended the University of South Carolina from 2014 to 2017. There, he amassed 87 tackles (6.5 for a loss) and a sack over 36 games.
Stallworth then broke into the NFL as an undrafted free agent for the New Orleans Saints in May of 2018. He appeared in 18 contests for New Orleans between 2018 and 2019, totaling 16 tackles and a sack.
His tenure with Reich and the Colts began a week after being waived by the Saints on Aug. 3, 2020. The 6-foot-2, 305-pounder racked up 28 tackles (five for a loss), 13 quarterback hits, a sack and a fumble recovery in 32 outings for Indy.
He spent the 2022 campaign as a member of both the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans.
Before Stallworth’s signing is made official, the Panthers will have to make a corresponding move to get their roster down to 89 players by tomorrow.
