Panthers S Kenny Robinson provides encouraging update on Damar Hamlin

Kenny Robinson, longtime friend of Damar Hamlin, tweeted on Friday morning that the Bills safety is up and talking.

On Friday morning, Carolina Panthers safety Kenny Robinson passed down some incredibly encouraging news on Buffalo Bills safety and longtime friend Damar Hamlin.

The positive update would be reported on by Shams Charania, of The Athletic and Stadium, about half an hour following Robinson’s tweet.

Hamlin suffered from cardiac arrest during Monday night’s game between the Bills and Cincinnati Bengals. The 24-year-old has been showing remarkable signs of improvement throughout the week, as doctors at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center told reporters yesterday that Hamlin was able to communicate through writing.

Robinson and Hamlin are childhood friends. Panthers interim head coach Steve Wilks detailed the two’s relationship back on Wednesday.

“Again, they’ve known each other since middle school,” he said. “They’re in a group text every week—him and another guy they grew up with. He’s real close to him. And I wanted him to understand, as well as anybody else in that locker room, we care about you beyond the game of football.”
