Panthers K Graham Gano says he fractured his femur in practice 1 year ago today

Gano says he still kicked that weekend against Tampa Bay.

Panthers kicker Graham Gano has missed the entire 2019 season with a mysterious “leg injury” that we’ve never really heard the nature of. Gano spilled the beans today on Twitter, saying he fractured his femur at practice exactly one year ago. Gano says he still kicked that weekend against Tampa Bay.

Ouch.

With Gano out for the year, Carolina has been rolling with the rookie Joey Slye. He got off to a hot start, but he started struggling in London against the Buccaneers and bottomed out on Sunday in New Orleans. Slye’s field goal percentage is down to 73.1%. He has shown impressive range though, connecting on six of nine attempts from 50 yards or more.

Nevertheless, this week the Panthers might decide to make a change. They recently added former Browns kicker Greg Joseph to their practice squad. Ron Rivera has not announced a change as of yet, though.

Looking ahead, Gano might be back in the lineup next season. He still has two years left on his contract.
