Will Grier left the locker room with a boot on his left foot

Panthers quarterback Will Grier left Sunday’s loss to the Saints early after getting sacked by Cameron Jordan. He was listed as questionable with a foot injury and eventually ruled out to return. In his place, Kyle Allen put in a quintessential effort, throwing for 295 yards but also adding another end zone interception to his total.
Today, the players are cleaning out their locker rooms and Grier is wearing a walking boot on his left foot. The Athletic reported on Sunday that Grier’s X-ray was negative, so it’s probably nothing serious and he should be ready for the 2020 season. He likely won’t see any playing time, though.
When Grier left the field yesterday he was 1/8 for four yards and had a passer rating of zero. He also threw a heinous pick-six to former Carolina linebacker A.J. Klein.
Two games isn’t much to go on, but Grier does not look dramatically improved from the preseason when he bombed. He may yet develop into a solid passer. For now, he remains a project quarterback.
