Panthers Highlights: 4 catches that show what Robby Anderson can do

Here are a few catches from Anderson’s time in New York that show what he can do for Carolina’s offense.

Yesterday, the Carolina Panthers continued to add to their wide receiver corps, signing former Temple and New York Jets wideout Robby Anderson. He should make an excellent fit given his experience with Matt Rhule, Teddy Bridgewater and P.J. Walker.

Here are a few catches from Anderson’s time in New York that show what he can do for Carolina’s offense.

Beating two Panthers

Here you’ll see Anderson show off his speed and contested catch ability. First, he tries to freeze James Bradberry with a double move. It doesn’t work but he gets past him anyway, then finishes the play with Bradberry and Mike Adams draped all over him in the end zone.

Burning Bradley Roby

Here we see more of Anderson’s ability as a vertical threat. He times this move extremely well. The hesitation step works on Roby and he gets over the top for an easy 76-yard touchdown.

The Jordan

Here you’ll see Anderson once again beating two defensive backs to get into scoring position. He high-points the ball on a beautiful throw from Sam Darnold for a touchdown against the Steelers.

Roasting Chris Harris

Anderson is more than just a deep threat, though. He excels in the intermediate part of the field where Teddy Bridgewater thrives. Here’s a series of nice catches from Anderson, beginning with a filthy move on a corner route that makes Chris Harris – one of the best cover cornerbacks in the NFL – look positively silly.

The first week of free agent moves by the Panthers was pretty mediocre, all things considered. This week they’ve been on fire, though. Trading Kyle Allen for a fifth-round pick is one of the most lopsided deals in franchise history. They also signed Anderson, P.J. Walker and Tahir Whitehead at team-friendly prices.
