Heading into the 2023 NFL draft a majority of the buzz around former Alabama Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Bryce Young wasn’t about his off-the-charts IQ or uncanny leadership abilities, but rather his size. Teams were reportedly weary of the Crimson Tide legend as he measured under six feet at the draft combine, and it doesn’t appear that the jokes have subsided yet.
It has been hard to get a read on Young through two preseason games as the Panthers’ offensive line has been beyond atrocious. In Carolina’s most recent preseason game against the Giants, Young completed three passes out of six attempts for 35 yards, but again never had a pocket to throw from.
After the game, a Giants employee took a jab at Young while adjusting the microphone to make sure that Young was tall enough to see over the mic. Young laughed it off and handled it like a champ, but it’s the kind of thing BY9 will definitely take a mental note on.
“I’m 5-9, this won’t block him?”
