Panthers activate rookie DE Yetur Gross-Matos from reserve/COVID-19 list

The Carolina Panthers began the week with nearly a dozen players on their reserve/COVID-19 list. Slowly but surely, they are starting to get back to work. Yesterday, the team activated second-year offensive tackle Greg Little from the list.

Today, it’s rookie defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos, who is present at practice.

Gross-Matos’ game has shown a lot of upside. His high pressure rate is particularly encouraging for the future. However, he hasn’t been lucky when it comes to his health. Gross-Matos missed one game early in the year due to getting poked in the eye at practice and developing a concussion and three more later on with a high ankle sprain.

In eight games, Gross-Matos has totaled 16 combined tackles (one for a loss), two quarterback hits and 1.5 sacks. Most likely, he will get the majority of the snaps opposite superstar EDGE Brian Burns for the rest of the team’s regular season.
