A review and breakdown of predictions for the Green Bay Packers in final mock drafts from a few of the most prominent draft analysts in the business:
The mock draft: Mike Renner, Pro Football Focus
The pick: WR Jalen Reagor, TCU (with trade up to No. 23)
The reasoning: “Brian Gutekunst makes a play to move up for the third consecutive draft. This time it’s for that all-important explosiveness that they really don’t have in their receiving corps at the moment.”
Our breakdown: This would be a highly aggressive move from a GM who has proven his aggressiveness in the first round each of the last two years. Gutekunst moved up to get Jaire Alexander and Darnell Savage to solidify the Packers secondary. Could he move up again and get the playmaker he needs at receiver? Reagor might be the most explosive receiver in the draft. His testing numbers were somewhat disappointing, but the Packers might be able to overlook the measurables and some inconsistent production because the player is so dynamic. The workout numbers don’t jive with the tape. Reagor is able to create late separation vertically, his vision in the open field is terrific, and he overcomes a lack of overall size with explosive leaping power and terrific play strength at the catch point. He would solve the need for a field-stretcher while giving the Packers receiver room a new flavor of player. Trading up to get a receiver in this class would be risky, but the Packers shouldn’t be bashful if they think they can move up and get a difference-maker. In the right situation, Reagor will be a game-changer.
