Packers sign veteran defensive lineman Treyvon Hester

The Packers signed veteran DL Treyvon Hester, who has played 41 games the last three seasons with te Raiders, Eagles and Redskins.

The Green Bay Packers didn’t draft a defensive lineman last week, but they added a veteran at the position on Friday.

The team announced the signing of Treyvon Hester, a seventh-round pick who has played regular-season games with the Las Vegas Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins over the last three seasons.

The Raiders took Hester with the 244th overall pick in the 2017 draft.

Over 41 career games and two starts, Hester has produced 40 tackles, two sacks, eight quarterback hits and four tackles for losses. He played in two playoff games with the Eagles in 2018.

During the Eagles’ wildcard round win over the Chicago Bears, Hester tipped the potential game-winning field goal from Cody Parkey, sending the ball on a collision course with the left upright and then the crossbar. The kick was no good and the Eagles moved on.

Hester received high grades from Pro Football Focus as both a run-stopper and pass-rusher in 2018, his best season as a pro. He was released by the Eagles at final roster cuts last year.

The Redskins didn’t tender Hester as a restricted free agent.

The Packers have added Hester and former Dolphins lineman Gerald Willis to the defensive line depth chart. The group includes Kenny Clark, Dean Lowry, Tyler Lancaster, Montravius Adams and Kingsley Keke, all returning players from last year’s roster.
