Packers QB Aaron Rodgers named NFL MVP in 2020

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is the NFL’s Most Valuable Player for the 2020 season.

For the third time in his decorated career, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been named the MVP in the NFL.

Rodgers was announced as the league’s most valuable player in 2020 during Saturday’s NFL Honors. The award is voted on by the Associated Press. Rodgers received 44 of 50 votes.

Rodgers previously won the award during the 2011 and 2014 seasons. He becomes just the sixth player in NFL history to win the award three or more times, joining Peyton Manning, Jim Brown, Johnny Unitas, Brett Favre and Tom Brady.

In 2020, Rodgers led the NFL in completion percentage (70.7), touchdown passes (48), passer rating (121.5) and total touchdowns (51). He led the Packers to a 13-3 record and the No. 1 seed in the NFC while captaining the No. 1 scoring offense in football.

Rodgers set new career-highs and franchise records in completion percentage and touchdown passes. He also finished second all-time in passer rating for a single season, trailing only his 2011 season.

Back in December, Rodgers acknowledged what it would mean to join a rare group of three-time MVP winners.

“There’s not many guys who have won three, so that would definitely mean a lot,” Rodgers said.

The Packers are just the second team in NFL history with two three-time MVP winners, joining the Indianapolis Colts (Manning, Unitas).
