The Green Bay Packers have met with one of Notre Dame’s defensive captains in 2020.
According to Justin Melo of The Draft Network, the Packers recently met virtually with Notre Dame edge rusher Daelin Hayes.
The Packers and the 31 other NFL teams are starting to meet with prospects in the 2021 NFL draft. Edge rusher could be a need for Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst, especially if Preston Smith becomes a cap casualty.
In his profile at The Draft Network, Hayes is considered to be a “hybrid pass rusher” at the next level who can be an “early down defender” who can set the edge and drop into coverage but needs plenty of development as a rusher,
As a senior, Hayes produced six tackles for losses, three sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception over 12 total games. He finished his collegiate career with nine sacks, 20.5 tackles for losses, five fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles.
He was voted a team captain in 2020. He was also named an All-ACC honorable mention.
Hayes tore the labrum in his shoulder during the 2019 season and missed all but three games.
