The Green Bay Packers hosted Central Michigan running back Lew Nichols III on an official top-30 visit ahead of the 2023 NFL draft.

The Green Bay Packers hosted Central Michigan running back Lew Nichols III on an official top-30 visit ahead of the 2023 NFL draft, according to Dave Birkett of Detroit Free Press.

Teams are allowed 30 visits with prospects before the draft. The Packers’ current reported list can be found here: Tracking Packers’ official pre-draft visits ahead of 2023 NFL draft.

Nichols, a Detroit native, produced 3,636 total yards and scored 29 total touchdowns over 32 games. He rushed 614 times for 3,061 yards and 26 touchdowns and caught 71 passes for 575 yards and three touchdowns while at Central Michigan.

In 2021, Nichols rushed for an FBS-high 1,848 yards, the second-most all-time at the school, and created an FBS-high 2,186 all-purpose yards. He played in only nine games while battling injury in 2022.

The 5-11, 222-pound running back will work out for NFL scouts on Monday.

Nichols’ combination of size, short-area quickness and receiving ability could make him an intriguing player for teams wanting a running back on Day 3.

The Packers need to establish long-term security at running back with a pick in the 2023 draft. Aaron Jones has a ballooning cap hit in 2024, and A.J. Dillon is entering the final year of his rookie deal.
