Colorado’s run in the Pac-12 men’s basketball tournament got off to a strong start on Wednesday as the No. 9 seed Buffs upset the No. 8 Washington Huskies, 74-68.
With All-Pac-12 point guard KJ Simpson out for the tourney due to an illness, Julian Hammond III stepped up in his absence and scored a career-high 23 points, 15 of which coming in the second half. The Buffaloes’ first-round win now gives them a date with the No. 1 seeded UCLA Bruins on Thursday at 1 p.m. MT.
