The Oklahoma Sooners advanced to the Big 12 Championship after a 5-0 win over the Iowa State Cyclones on Friday. Hope Trautwein led the way with 14 strikeouts and a grand slam courtesy of Lynnsie Elam provided all the run support the Sooners needed.
The Sooners are looking for their fifth consecutive Big 12 tournament crown and will play the winner of the Oklahoma State-Texas matchup in tomorrow’s final.
“On fire” doesn’t even come close to the performance Hope Trautwein put on display on Friday afternoon in Oklahoma City. She retired Iowa State in order four times in seven innings. Today’s semi-final was her 16th win of the season.

Offensively, OU jumped on ISU early withย two singles and a walk to load the bases in the bottom of the first. With two outs, Lynnsie Elam walked to the plate. Elam then provided the fireworks with her first inning grand slam.

After an RBI single from Rylie Boone in the bottom of the second, the Sooners were up 5-0 early in this contest. It would be all they needed to secure yet another birth to the Big 12 Championship.
The Longhorns-Cowgirls game starts at 4 p.m. The Longhorns handed the Sooners their lone loss of the season back in April.
The Big 12 Championship will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. Catch the action on ESPN2.
