If the Boston Celtics are to truly contend for the 2024 NBA title, they will need everything they can get out of their bench. For that reason, the suggestion from NBA.com’s John Schuhmann that the Celtics “need more than six guys they can trust” is not only spot-on but critical.
For Schuhmann, forward Oshae Brissett in particular stands out as a prospect Boston needs to take a leap this season in such a regard. “It’s important that Payton Pritchard recovers from some regression in his third season, but Boston is thinner up front, especially with Al Horford now 37 years old,” writes the NBA analyst.
“After Tatum, Brissett (who has no playoff experience) is the next guy who can give the Cs some minutes at the four, and they’ll need him to make open shots and hold his own defensively,” adds Schuhmann. “Go deeper.”
