The Atlanta Braves are the defending champs – they defeated the Houston Astros 4 games to 2 in last year’s World Series. However, if the Braves are going to repeat, they’ll have to do so without 1B Freddie Freeman, who signed a 6-year, $162 million, free-agent deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The regular season is scheduled to conclude Wednesday, Oct. 5. Twelve teams, 6 per league, will make the postseason with the top 2 clubs getting byes into the second round.
