On3 views Texas RB Bijan Robinson as a Heisman contender

He’s the only non-QB in the top three.

Texas’ offense is oozing with firepower for the 2022 season, and is expected to get the program moving in the right direction after last season’s debacle.

The Longhorns finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 5-7 record and were left questioning what went wrong. This offseason, Steve Sarkisian and his staff put together a fantastic recruiting class and also added a slew of elite transfers that will provide a boost on both the offense on defense.

However, the Longhorns also have the pleasure of returning who could be considered the best running back in college football, Bijan Robinson. He finished his sophomore season with a 1,127 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns, while also adding four receiving touchdowns.

Robinson was also garnering Heisman hype during Texas’ first few games of the 2021 season, but obviously as the team began to struggle that faded. He also missed the last few games due to an elbow injury.

On3 released their top Heisman candidates for the 2022 season on Wednesday, and at the No. 3 spot was Texas’ star running back.

The only two players ahead of Robinson were the 2021 Heisman winner Bryce Young, and CJ Stroud who was a Heisman finalist.

For a running back to win the Heisman, they would need an absolute magical season that shatters every record in sight. Michigan State’s Kenneth Walker was on a tear in 2021 and wasn’t even a finalist.

If anyone could achieve this, it would be Robinson, as he has been among the best running backs since he graduated high school.
